Through my practice I explore the process of painting; focussing on medium, surface, application and removal.
My previous experience in Photography, Science and Systems Analysis continue to feed and inform my practice.
The physical, tactile and aesthetic qualities of materials are important to me.
My work is not based on depiction, it is driven by visual feedback received during the course of production. My practice literally involves 'watching paint dry'.

Painting on a human scale gives me the room I need to move. Allowing previously applied layers to show enables the audience to encounter the various stages that made the work.
I have not set out to copy a style, but my methods result in paintings which have close affinities to Abstract Expressionism.
I am inspired by Land Art, Sculpture and Painting alike, including artists such as Andy Goldsworthy, Anish Kapoor, Barnett Newman, Gerhard Richter and Richard Serra.
